We are seeking passionate and socially-minded applicants with the courage to step out of their comfort zone and the persistence to thrive in the challenges of international development and grassroots entrepreneurship.

*The personal safety of our students and the safety of the communities we work with is of huge importance to us, and all our decision-making around how we're driving change in the face of such uncertainty is being done with this in mind. The Global Impact Programs are currently on hold until we can return to safe international travel however, we are still taking expressions of interest, and applications for our other Impact Programs.

I felt like I had a lot of responsibility and I was able to set up structures to enact real change. I felt like it was well organised and I was very aware of what was expected of me.

As interns our day to day responsibilities involved contacting stakeholders to organising meetings so that we could conduct our surveys to understand problems financial institutes face when giving out loans to small to medium enterprises. We also used this data to develop a minimal viable product to help combat the issues faced by both the financial institutions and local business owners. However there is a lot of travel involved to the big cities which can be quite draining.

Pros and cons of working at Project Everest Ventures

Pros

  • The opportunities to learn and to have on the ground experience that I would not be able to get anywhere else.

  • The experience you gain as an intern with Project Everest Ventures allows for incredible foundations for professional and personal development. The most valuable part is the development of soft skills that have set me up for life.

  • The experience and personal growth is massive. Working overseas places you in a different learning environment that compares to no other.

  • Being able to travel the world and explore new country but do it with a purpose. Attempting to make a difference in some more disadvantaged countries.

  • The people you meet is the best part about doing an internship with Project Everest Ventures. I am someone who is really passionate about sustainable social and environmental development, especially what we can be doing in regards to action towards climate change. Through Project Everest Ventures I found a community that was also passionate about proactive within this space which has really motivated me to do more with my degree and skills.

Cons

    • Unfortunately, due to the nature of our work and the fact we are located across different regions of Australia, we do have to travel a bit whether it's for internship purposes (depending on which program you do) or if you choose to do additional training.

    • The hardest thing is that impact takes a long time. I think people want to be able to solve every problem overseas in 4 weeks however in reality it takes for longer than that. At times it did really effect team morale but our team leader was able to get everyone to understand the big picture of why we're doing what we're doing.

    • A lot of up front commitment, especially in terms of money.
