      THE THOMAS ELDER INSTITUTE

      The Thomas Elder Institute has been established by Elders to increase our involvement in R&D and capability development activities for the benefit of the Australian agricultural industries. The graduate agronomy program will be managed through the institute utilising training and development opportunities both within the Elders network and through our supplier partners and extensive industry relationships.

      ABOUT THE ROLE

      We are seeking graduates wanting to pursue a career in agronomy to take part in a two-year tailored program designed to provide you with the opportunity to learn through working in the field with our experts. The program offers the opportunity to work in multiple locations, gain exposure and increase your knowledge in various cropping segments across Australia.

      You will be supported by our experienced agronomists and technical staff to develop the skills to provide growers with the latest in agricultural technology through a diverse range of crop protection products, seed, fertiliser and plant nutrition services through the provision of cutting-edge agronomic advice.

      WHAT WILL I DO?

      As a Graduate Agronomist you will:

      • Assist in developing and implementing farm management plans and client management plans
      • Provide customer service in store and on farm
      • Ensure compliance with client allocation process and payment terms for all transactions
      • Promote full range of Elders products to clients and provides referrals to other staff
      • Attend and assist in running of field days and farmer meetings; conduct field demonstrations and trials with key suppliers
      • Participate in budgeting, product forecasting, inventory management, debtor management and training

      WHO AM I?

      To succeed at Elders, you will have:

      • Tertiary qualification in Agriculture or related business discipline (essential)
      • Confident self-starter, with a passion for agricultural production and a rural lifestyle
      • A positive team member,
      • A willingness to learn, motivation to succeed
      • Strong communication and problem-solving skills to be able to provide sound technical advice to your clients
      • The ability to relocate to various locations during the program
