How we can thrive together to solve Australia's data-driven challenges

  • Data61 are at the digital and data heart of Australia's national science agency with the largest group of digital technology researchers in Australia
  • Opportunity to seamlessly work across disciplinary boundaries and make an impact on a national scale
  • An agile and collaborative environment supporting diverse scientific research

Life at Data61 and how you can be part of our Science Digital program

CSIRO’s Data61 is at the forefront of digital science and innovation. Data61 is guiding first class novel research as well as working across disciplines and sectors to apply technologies and deliver impact.

Our Science Digital program is a rare opportunity to be a part of remaking the process of scientific discovery by enhancing research, development and commercialisation with artificial intelligence.

From the formation of a hypothesis to the design and running of an experiment, AI (Artificial Intelligence) can both accelerate and alter the process of inquiry.

Overview of who we are looking for

CSIRO aim to recruit a cohort of Science Digital CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral and Engineering Fellowships. These fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and engineers who have completed their doctorate or masters degree and have less than three years relevant postdoctoral or postmasters work experience.

We expect the Science Digital CERC Fellows to learn and grow to become agile researchers by the end of this project. We will embed the Science Digital CERC Fellows into the Data61 Science Digital ecosystem, where they will have a supporting and enriching experience. These roles will deliver research projects and activities on topics including:

  • Developing and evolving novel AI (Machine Learning, Robotics, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision etc.) methods, including enabling techniques and algorithms, to enable new forms of scientific discovery
  • Creating AI algorithms and models to enhance scientific experimentation and testing
  • Researching and progressing Deep domain science driven AI methods

As a Science Digital Fellow, you will collaborate in developing a stream of research and development that contributes to new software platforms and high-quality articles acceptable to high-rank conferences.

Data61 provides a supportive environment for commercialising research results and building innovation through start-ups and active community engagement. As the Science Digital CERC Fellow you will have the opportunity to collaborate with Data61 partners within the Australian and international ecosystem and address the challenging problems in reinventing scientific discovery.
